Karen brings a refreshing attitude toward community leadership.
She supports judicious taxpayer spending on township management, preserving property tax resources for those who need it most. Her aim would be to passionately defend necessary Township Assistance, ensuring uninterupted access to aid while considering more efficient local processes.
Marion County has unique needs compared to most other counties due to its population and corresponding needs. Karen would provide a voice for the vulnerable as the important work of local government consolidation continues to roll out, working toward fiscally sound and compassionate solutions for Marion and nearby Counties .

28 years married to Mark, proud mama to their 2 young men, passionate about her faith community, hard working in multiple careers and engaged volunteer. Karen has spent her life serving others.
She now aims to put her passion for good toward serving the commuity at large in a meaningful way.

After earning her Chemistry degree from the University of Dayton, Karen excelled at a 10 year career in big pharma. She and her husband then agreed on her taking an intentional break from earning a paycheck to focus on their growing family. During this time she learned the skills of founding and leading organizations she had a passion for, proving her ability to motivate both volunteers while applying her powers of persuasion to encourage young boys to eat their vegetables.
An unexpected health crisis tested her grit and renewed her gratitude for life, but also led her to her next career move: a pivot into the regenerative biotech start up space when she was well enough to work outside the home again. Serving as Director of Business Development, Karen enhanced her networking skills to include working with venture and angel groups, serving as a valuable interpretive link between founders and scientists to the lay investment community.
The pandemic put a pause in that work, but led to her considering a novel opportunity in public service. She took a leap of faith, and found her skills translated well into the political space. After helping multiple public servants with their campaigns, she entered the Lugar Series for Excellence in Public Service. It was there that Karen discerned to direct her Passion for GOOD entirely to the public sector.
Upon completion of the Series, Karen joined the Indiana Destination Development Corporation, Directing Strategic Initiatives statewide. Recently, she accepted an offer to become the Executive Director of the Healthy Hoosiers Foundation, a 501c3 that links unmet state health needs to alternative funding sources.
Karen has been a lector at mass since college, volunteered and/or led church/school committees, helped numerous fundraising efforts (including for LLS, now called Blood Cancer United), has served on the Meridian Street Foundation Board, is a State Delegate and Precinct Committeeman, helped St. Margaret’s Guild with their 2026 Decorator Show House, and recently accepted a gubernatorial appointment to the Real Estate Commission. She belongs to 2 book clubs (both for more than 20 years), practices yoga, enjoys gardening, playing mah jongg, home rehab, and soundly beating her now young men-with the help of her favorite partner, hubby Mark-on family euchre nights.
All of these experiences, along with an abundance of passion for her community, make Karen Momper well-equipped to serve as Washington Township Trustee.
